The market is nothing less than the sum of all these unlikely encounters. From my point of view, to describe what happens is to describe the meetings at the vegetable or fish stall between people who, for the most part, do not know each other and often belong to very different social milieu, but who nevertheless do interact with each other.
— De La Pradelle, 1995 (p.366)

In the same way as food markets encourage a multiplicity of encounters, these also encourage a multiplicity of engagements from agents that place markets, food and cities at the core of their agendas.

From their different sectors and forms of association, these are involved in market and food studies, advocacy, academic research, entrepreneurship and innovation, as well as the development of public policies in favor of the planning and flourishing of vibrant localities and nourishing activities around these common assets. Their work has served to start networks of action that bring about valuable outcomes that connect actors and agendas at local and global scale.

Below is my attempt to map fellows and like-minded practitioners building market and food networks all around the world.
