CoMercado comes from acknowledging the sense of community that is inherent to ‘mercados’ (markets) and shared practices around food, such as ‘comer’ (to eat).

With the following journeys and stories, my purpose is to encourage you with envisioning markets as spaces of connection and community-building in city living, as well as to engage with food as a vehicle for enriching culinary/urban experiences for you and for all.

This Market Map lists markets I have visited. It includes my case studies and others’ case studies, since global references on market studies guided a number of my visits. Likewise, you will find more urban food centres I found along these ways.

This Food Map shows locations where I obtained memorable products, and where I could enrich memories next to people sharing their projects, preparations and passions. Many of these products and tastes were identified during my explorations to markets. Others came from following food stories and studies, enriching my food encounters.
